Telescope

The kids have been wanting a telescope for months now.  We told them if they saved up $100, we would cover any additional costs to get a decent telescope.  After saving their allowance for months, and after selling cookies at two garage sales and at the end of our block for several hours, they finally met their goal.  The first night we set it up we really couldn't see much.  The instructions that came with the telescope did not contain nearly enough information.  After their dad did some more reading and figured out what he was doing wrong, the kids were able to see some cool stuff.  We used it during the day to see a broadcast antenna on a hill about 10 miles south of town. The kids were amazed at how close it seemed.
I also got the kids up at 3:00 a.m. Sunday to look at the moon.  Alise really enjoyed that.  She spent 15 minutes with me looking at it.  Zadik and Brenna looked, but went back to bed pretty fast.  Before I figured out what I was doing, the the kids tried to figure it out for themselves.  The result is pretty funny.
