Our great President, wanted to encourage kids to get into the wilderness. To add some incentive, he declared a couple weeks ago that all 4th graders would get a free permit for a Christmas tree. Since Alise is a fourth grader this year, she got us a free tree. We were the first ones to get a permit under this system (and the first one at our local forest service office to get a permit period this year).
Once again, we went up to Knox Canyon. Since I had new tires on the truck, and since Dalton fixed my four wheel drive, we were able to make it to the top of Know Canyon again. We didn't even have to put chains on this year, even though I had just bought a pair that actually fits my tires.
As with the last time we made it to the top, we spent about an hour sledding down the awesome sledding path right near the road.
I thought we would have to hike back a ways to find a good tree, but seeing as we were the first ones up, we found one less than a hundred yards from the parking area.
After we got the tree, we enjoyed some hot chocolate and headed back home.
Once we got home, we broke out the decorations and had fun putting them on the tree and around the house.
